Generator Interlock Kit with Inlet in Pinson, AL
Superior Service Electric completed a generator inlet and interlock kit installation for a homeowner in Pinson, Alabama. The project gave the homeowner a dedicated connection point for a portable generator to use during power outages, and it tied directly into their existing electrical panel so the transfer of power would be straightforward.
Our electrician began at the electrical panel and ran a new circuit for the generator connection. That circuit was routed through the exterior wall using PVC conduit, which provided a neat, weather-resistant path for the wiring to the outside of the house. We mounted the generator inlet on the back of the home so the homeowner has an accessible place to plug in a portable unit when needed.
At the electrical panel we installed the interlock kit required for the new inlet. To make space for the interlock components we relocated the dryer breaker, moving it to a new position in the panel. With the interlock kit in place the inlet ties into the panel in the intended configuration for the homeowner to use their portable generator as a backup source.
The work was completed with the intent of providing a reliable, organized way to connect a portable generator during outages. The inlet on the rear of the house keeps the generator connection out of the elements and within easy reach. Routing the circuit in PVC conduit helped keep the exterior entry point clean and durable.
Superior Service Electric in Pinson, AL handled the full scope of this generator inlet and interlock kit installation, from running the new circuit at the panel to mounting the inlet on the home. The homeowner now has a dedicated connection point for a portable generator and the panel configuration needed to accommodate it. If a future outage occurs, the inlet and interlock setup will make connecting a portable generator practical and consistent with the electrical work we performed.
